Uzbekistan announces visa-free travel for Indian citizens, extending the bilateral ties between the two nations.

The new order was declared by Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev after the two-day state visit of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The latest drive is focused on building tourism, culture and trade between the two countries.

Uzbekistan has always been a friendly ally to India, accommodating institutions like the Lal Bahadur Shastri Centre for Indian Culture and the Mahatma Gandhi Centre for Indian Studies. Yoga has also gained popularity in the country, which established a dedicated Yoga Federation in 2018.

Recently the country also adopted the Unified Payments Interface (UPI) services to strengthen its cooperation.
